The car was built by Lucchini & C. Autoveicoli of Mantua, Italy, in accordance with Group 6 sports prototype racing regulations. Chassis 025 features fiberglass bodywork over an aluminum-skinned space frame and is powered by a fuel-injected 2.5L Alfa Romeo V6 mated to a Hewland FT200 five-speed manual transaxle with a liHi mited-slip differential. Additional equipment includes 13″ center-lock wheels with Avon slicks as well as an adjustable coilover suspension, a jabroc front splitter, a rear wing, a roll hoop, a fixed bucket seat, and an OMP harness.
Current owner acquired the car out of Italy in 2016 and subsequently brought to the US. The car comes with a spare 3.0L Alfa Romeo V6 engine, a Lucchini Certificato di Origine and Automobile Club d’Italia (ACI) documentation including a 1986 Passaporto Tecnico as well as a 2007 Historic Technical Passport.
Lucchini & C. Autoveicoli was founded by Giorgio Lucchini in 1980 after leaving Dallara. The company built various open-cockpit prototypes over the next three decades that ran in European hillclimb and endurance events including the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The right-hand-drive cockpit houses a fixed bucket seat with blue padding and an OMP harness, while a black headrest is mounted to the roll hoop. The gear lever is located to the driver’s right, a rear-view mirror is mounted atop a post affixed to the dash, and controls for the adjustable sway bars are located on either side of the steering wheel.
It has five-spoke 13″ center-lock wheels finished in black and mounted with Avon slicks. Four-wheel disc brakes feature dual Girling master cylinders as well cooling hoses routed from intakes in the nose and ahead of the rear wheels.
The two-valve 2.5L Alfa Romeo V6 is equipped with Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection, and the exhaust system features three-into-one headers and a single central outlet. A spare 3.0L 24 valve Alfa Romeo V6 engine is included in the sale. The 3.0 four valve motor needs a rebuild.
Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a Hewland FT200 five-speed manual transaxle with a limited-slip differential. The front suspension features adjustable upper A-arms, a cantilever setup is utilized out back, and adjustable coilovers are featured at both ends.
